PayPal USD (PYUSD) is now issued natively on Polygon through Paxos and made available via the Polygon Open Money Stack, the network’s payments infrastructure for moving money globally.

Polygon has settled more than $2.6 trillion in stablecoins to date. Companies including Revolut and Stripe already operate on the network. Now, all the businesses already processing payments on Polygon can access PYUSD directly through existing wallets, ramps and compliance tooling.
Previously, deploying a stablecoin in production required assembling separate components: a token from one provider, fiat on- and off-ramps from another, compliance tooling from a third, and engineering work to make the pieces interoperate. With PYUSD issued natively within the Open Money Stack, a business can accept funds from a card, bank or exchange balance, hold and move PYUSD across borders, and cash out to local currency through a single integration. Regulated fiat access and compliance are built into that integration.
The Open Money Stack also includes stablecoin orchestration and agentic payments infrastructure, the latter built on x402 for pay-per-use APIs and ERC-8004 for onchain agent identity. According to Polygon, these features will extend to PYUSD as its integration into the stack progresses, rather than remaining limited to natively issued USDC.
Potential use cases include a payroll company paying contractors across multiple countries, a marketplace settling with overseas sellers, and a remittance app moving funds into emerging markets. Each could operate PYUSD on Polygon’s existing settlement rails without building separate banking and compliance infrastructure. For end users, this is intended to translate into faster payouts and fewer failed transactions.
PYUSD is issued by Paxos under a national Trust charter supervised by the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Paxos describes PYUSD as one of the largest U.S. dollar stablecoins issued by a federally regulated entity. The Open Money Stack’s licensed fiat ramps are paired with that regulatory status to provide a compliance path between traditional money and onchain settlement.
“A stablecoin is only as useful as the places it can go and what it can do when it gets there,” said Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs. “Bringing PYUSD natively into the Open Money Stack means a business can take money in, move it across borders, and cash it out in one integration, with compliance built in. When a federally regulated stablecoin is available on infrastructure that already moves money at scale, businesses stop asking whether stablecoin payments are ready and start asking what they can build with them.”
“As the regulated issuer of PYUSD, our role is to bring trusted stablecoins to businesses and institutions wherever they need them,” commented Peter Jonas, Chief Revenue Officer, Paxos. “PYUSD is issued under a national Trust charter supervised by the OCC, and bringing it natively to Polygon puts a federally regulated, dollar-backed stablecoin on one of the most active networks for stablecoin payments. Businesses running on the Open Money Stack can now settle in PYUSD with confidence in the compliance and regulatory oversight that serious money requires.”
PYUSD already operates across several networks and markets. Its native issuance on Polygon connects it to the ecosystem where stablecoin payments are most active, according to the companies, and where the Open Money Stack provides wallets, ramps, compliance and cross-chain routing through a single integration.
