Bitcoin is a pioneer cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by an anonymous person or group of people known as Satoshi Nakamoto. This digital currency allows people to send and receive money over a decentralized blockchain network without using a bank or third-party intermediaries. Often labelled as "digital gold," Bitcoin allows secure, transparent, and borderless transactions powered by blockchain technology — a public ledger that records all transactions. The cryptocurrency has a limited supply of 21 million coins, making it resistant to inflation, and is created by a process called 'mining' – adding new transaction blocks by using powerful computers to solve complex mathematical problems.
